32: The Year I Questioned Everything

There’s something about getting older that makes you see that you actually know very little about life - this is very inconvenient when you’ve spent years thinking that you’re a reasonably intelligent person who has a lot of things figured out 😂
As I prepare to turn 33 (even me admitting this in such a public space in itself is very brave), I’ve been reflecting on year 32, and honestly? What a year!
I graduated with my Master’s degree, experienced loss, questioned relationships, made new friends, found purpose in my work, took care of my body, and got to know myself in ways I probably wouldn’t have if life had been a little more comfortable.
Somewhere between the wins, the grief, the prayers, and the occasional existential crisis, I realized that 32 wasn’t interested in letting me remain the same person I was when I entered it.
It challenged things I thought I knew about myself. It tested everything from my faith to my relationships, my resilience, and my understanding of what it means to grow. I experienced seasons of abundance and seasons when I had to be a little more creative with what I had.
Perhaps the biggest lesson was that being ‘strong’ doesn’t always mean that you aren’t scared, and being 'calm' or 'stoic' doesn’t mean that your mind isn’t running a marathon. I also discovered that beneath this tough exterior is a rather sweet person. Who knew? Certainly not those who think I have my life together 😂
Something else that was a running theme: two things can be true at the same time. I can be brave and afraid, independent and still need people, wiser than I was last year and humble enough to admit that I still have a lot to learn.
So, as I count down to 33, I’m not arriving with a 10-point plan to become a whole new person. I’m arriving with more questions, some clarity, a deeper appreciation for the people I love, and a growing curiosity about what life has in store.
Welcome to 7 Days of 32.
Seven days of reflecting on the lessons, losses, love, and the little surprises that made this year what it was.
Follow along! PS - This is probably going to be the most consistent I've ever been lol.
