The 10 Commandments of absolute random stuff

To me, life is a collection of random things that happen either by chance, as a joke, or completely accidental. With this knowledge, you can choose to view life differently; maybe through the lens of a child, that of someone who is encumbered, or even through mine if you’d like.
As the title suggests, this is one of those random posts that I am about to try to make sense lol. It has ‘commandments’ that I hope will give you a new perspective or maybe some entertainment. Why did I choose commandments you may ask, short answer, I have no idea, it just sounded cool when I said it in my head haha. These shouldn’t be confused with the commandments of the Bible though lol, but you can make them yours!
Btw before we start, how are you? Like really, how are you? Let me know. I am sure I have some interesting things that will make you laugh if life sucks for you at this present moment!
1. Thou shalt not compare your life with another person’s
We are on different paths, pursuing different things, with different ideas, differently. Notice how many different(s) I used?
While social media has made it convenient for us to run our lives and all that good stuff, the unrealistic standards of bodies, opinions, trajectories of life, education, work, parenting, relationships, friendships, and even advocacy campaigns, can make you feel like the path you’re on is taking way too long.
Just know, whatever you see on there always has an agenda behind it. Try not to lose yourself in the name of what society is telling you to do. Sometimes, go off the grid and read a book or something. Also remember, comparison is the thief of joy.
2. Always keep learning; Ignorance isn’t bliss
Keep trying new things. Learn a new language; cue Duolingo, get out of your comfort zone in your career, there are other foods out there you haven’t tried yet, dancing can be fun, maybe learn about the history of your culture?
3. Whatever you do, you must laugh
I am big on laughing. I do it all the time. Sometimes at the expense of others, most times at things I shouldn’t laugh at, and sometimes at things, I make up. A sense of humor will get you through the toughest of times, I can guarantee you that.
4. Do not call the name of society when you know you’re wrong
While we blame society for a lot of things, there are decisions we make either at the spur of the moment or even over a long period of time. When you know the decision you have made is wrong, dangerous, or unacceptable, you can’t go blaming society, aka other people, for your actions. Take the consequences like the man, woman, or non-binary person you are.
5. I am sorry, I need help, Worchester sauce
I know many of you failed at pronouncing that last word, you’re not alone, I did too. These three are the hardest things to say, especially when you have people around you who hold you in high regard. Remember though, if you don’t say anything, you can’t be helped. I don’t think there’s anyone who has perfected mind reading yet. So, just ask for help, apologize when you are wrong, and that other thing haha.

6. Hey self, sit down somewhere
You are in control over yourself. You can literally tell yourself to stop, breathe, relax, and restart. When life gets overwhelming for you, exercise this control and tell yourself to sit down and either re-strategize or not do anything. I know this is easier said than done, but going off the rails issa no. And if you have, you can regain control. Everything has an ear, including your body, mind, heart, and soul.
7. Thou shalt not judge; you don’t know anything
You really don’t know anything, especially about another person. People will do things you don’t approve of, but if they’re not your kids, how’s that your business? Always be kind, you’re unaware of the battles others are fighting out here.
8. Scream, shout and let it all out
Sometimes all you need is a good venting session. When you talk about the things bothering you, you’ll realize how unimportant some of them are or how ridiculously angry you are at something so simple.
If you are uncomfortable venting to anyone, scream into that pillow of yours a few times and see how great you’ll feel after. Alternatively, you can just record yourself talking about your issues and listen afterward, and you’ll get such clarity.
9. Yesterday was awful, today probably is too, maybe tomorrow as well, but the day after, it’ll be a breeze
I don’t think I need to add to this.
10. 1+1
Like it or not, you need someone to share your life, experiences, frustrations, progress, goals, visions, et al with. As you select that partner or friend, ensure they are aligned with who you are, and the purpose you hope to fulfill. Also, protect your peace at all costs, you’d rather be alone than with someone who takes jabs at your self-esteem every chance they get.
